Hive 7
I’ve just come across an interesting little site, Hive7 is a sort of a second life type thing. Why am I writing about it? well it’s all done in the browser! no downloads, no ActiveX’s all javascript and the likes.
It’s really impressive what can actually be done inside the browser if you try hard enough (Thanks to Scrobleizer for the heads up)
Oblivion Loading?
It seems that some people are having long load issues with Bethesda’s latest and greatest, Oblivion.
There is however a solution, apparently if you hold down the A button whilst the game is loading it will reset the HDD Cache for the game and bring the performance back up to what it should be.
Steps to do this
- Pop the disk in the XBox 360 drive
- Power off the 360
- Power on the 360 whilst holding the A button
- Wait until you see the "Bethesda Software" logo
Now if only Play.com would get my copy out to me I can try it! (Oh blatant plug, have a look at Oblivion Blog
Call of Duty 2 360 Update
An update for Call of Duty 2 has been released on the Live network, your game will automatically get the update next time you run COD2 whilst connected to Live.
The update includes many of the requested features, as well as some multiplayer fixes; these include improved multiplayer performance, the ability to reserve friend slots in private game lobbies, post-game lobbies so friends can play longer, configurable host options and more.
Put that disk into your 360 and update away.

A 360 game I am looking forward to has had a few new shot’s show up over at WorthPlaying. It’s looking soooooo sweet….. Just cannot wait for it!
Thanks to Gaming 360 for the heads up
XBox360 Hacked
Yup, it's started, reading in this thread has shown the video of the machine booting PGR from a copied disk.
Please note this does not show that you are going to be able to run homebrew stuff on the 360, this will only allow the running of correctly signed application's. However it is a start, I personaly have no issues in purchasing the games I want to play, although a bit of try before you buy would be nice (o MS and the game publishers could put better, more represetative demo's on Live).
I would love XBMC (XBox Media Center) to make it's way to the 360, as I could then banish my XBox to the other room.
Video after the jump.
PSP Media Player
A new good media play has come out for the PSP, PSPlayerMT. Why is it so good? Well it has support for avi, mov, mp4, ogm, mkv, nut, asf, wmv, mp3, m4a, wma, ogg, asf, wav, MPEG1/2/4 video(divx, xvid), Windows media video, Ogg theora, Mpeg audio(MP2, MP3, AAC), AC3 and OGG Vorbis.
The menu system is a bit basic, but that should not put you off, the controls for it are (it’s a Korean app, so I’ll let you know).
Left Shoulder - play from beginning
Right Shoulder - Go to PSPlayerMT Menu
circle - select the file and play
triangle - zoom the video
square - displays info video time and speed
left dpad - fast rewind
right dpad - fast forward
start - pause the video during playback
L1+R1+START- Back to PSP system menu
Download it and have a play…… (official site)
MPH Loader
For those that cannot be bothered or are confused by the new loader from MPH, then download this (12Mb)and pop it into the root of your memory stick. Read the readme files for the relevant info on all the tools.
The pack contains : Aenea decryptor, DecryptPRX, Fastloader07, MPH Firmware launcher, MPH Game Loader 1.01, UMD Emulator 8C.
Star Controll 2
I used to love this game when I was younger, thankfully it’s found a new life as ‘Ur-Quan Masters‘ and is updated and fixed by the open source community.
Why and how you ask? Well why is easy, it’s a great game, how, well that’s because when 3DO went bang the code that was used on the 3DO version of the game was released by Toy’s for Bob. The open source community picked it up and have now got all sorts of great features in it, these are most of the PC only features as well as things the never appeared before like voice acting and WinXP support.
I highly recommend you drop whatever you are currently doing and go get it now.
PSP V3
No sooner has MPH sorted out loading V2, V3 comes along. PSPHacks have some shot’s of the V3 PSP firmware on a device and it looks like there are some decent improvements.
Some of the improvements and new features look to be Sony Music Store connectivity, PS3 Connectivity, Mail, Notepad, Sketchpad, Organiser (including alarm) and enhanced security (with possibly better wireless security support?).
Pop along an have a look for yourself, let’s hope that MPH gets his firmware launcher sorted
