Transformers Transformed?

It seems that the General Motors is trying to up it's brand by 'sponsoring' some of the Autobot's.

First we had the news that Bumblebee has become a Chevy Camero concept, he was a Beetle for feck sakes! hence the name!

Then there was Brawl, he is now a Ford Mustang! and to add insult to injury, poor Ratchet will be a Hummer!

Now I'm not sure about those three , but the last is the best, Jazz will not be the Martini Porsche 935 race car, instead he will be a Pontiac Solstice, the car is not even worthy to be said in the same sentence as the Porsche!

I don't get it, and all though really looking forward to the movie, may not bother to go and watch it purely because of this product placement fiasco!

Leave them alone, GM, please get bought before the movie is finalised, so we can have the real cars back again! Either that or VW/Porsche stump some money up for the product placements!

Have a look over on AIKN for what the fanboys reckon.

Here's some before and after's

IE7 Release Candidate 1 has been released.

Pop along to the Microsoft download site for it.

The Hoff

Yes I know he has had a bit of exposure recently (a lot of exposure apparently at airports), but you really have to go sign up for Get Hoff to Number 1

Yup, there is an Internet movement to repay The Hoff for all the wooden acting, and bad singing over the years.

Let's make the man number 1, oh and to put yourself in the Hoff mood, why not make a HoffPlane

Audi RS4 Video

Now regular readers will know, I LOVE this car, in fact if I had the 45grand that it costs, I would buy it….

It has one of the best V8′s ever created, it sounds amazing, it looks good, and it goes…. Well it goes…

The yellow colour that the video below shows, does not do the car justice, but I highly recommend you watching the vid, even if it is an American trying to do Top Gear.

Go and watch the video that AutoMobileMag have for yourself, and you too will want one.

R10 Penalised

But it still outshone the field in the recent American Le Mans series race at Road America.

The ALMS (governing body) have given the car a weight penalty of 65kg, which by Audi’s calculations will make the car around 1.3 seconds a lap slower.

This however did not stop the two R10′s of Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro and the other car of Allan McNish and Dindo Capello from coming in 1-2 in the race.

It does seem however that the Audi works R10′s may not appear in the American series next year, the reason being that the ALMS have rushed through the rule changes (the petrol cars will be allowed a 5ltr larger fuel tank next race as well as the Audi’s carrying ballast) in the middle of the race season.

This put’s Audi at a disadvantage, they have proved that a Diesel race engine does work, not only is it more frugal, but it’s more powerful as well.

Audi will probably still run in the European events where they have not been penalised yet, and I don’t see why they should be, after all they obviously spent a great deal of money developing the Derv technology. There is also nothing stopping the other teams from developing and running a Diesel engine that would have similar benefits for them.

Military Tattoo

Part one of my Edinburgh Military Tattoo video posting's.

This one is the New Zealand marching band, they are slightly different from most marching bands, in that they try add some comedy to their performance.

Video is hosted by YouTube, if you want the full version, let me know and I will pass it on.

The next video is the Drum Line called Top Secret, they are from Switzerland unless you cannot guess.

The Top Secret band are really quite impressive, that's lot's of practice to get that right.

Work one

This is a little 'team building' video that some of the team (myself included) put together recently.

Edinburgh Military Tattoo

We decided that we wanted to go and see the Tattoo for our wedding anniversary this year.

After a 9 hour trek up to Edinburgh due to a lorry spilling chip fat all over junction 16 of the M6, we made it to the Edinburgh Marriott.

The Hotel was lovely, massive bed, and decent room. However next time we go we will check into a small B&B, get some of the Scottish hospitality.

The Tattoo itself was brilliant, if you have not been, then go!

The Edinburgh fringe festival (what we had chance to see of it, chicken man is photo’d) was good as well, as was the whisky making tour.

All in all the experience was good, and we will be definitely going back for a longer visit next time.

For all the pictures from the Tattoo have a look here

VW’s new Scirocco?

Is the picture of the Concept S actually the new Scirocco?

VW are known to be working on an update for their coupe GTi from the 80's, and the Concept S could well be the working concept for the new car.

It's known that the codename for the replacement car is IROC, and is to be based on the Golf VI platform and as such will probably run the same engines.

It looks good, I've always fancied a Scirocco, so perhaps I can have a new one now.

More R8 shots

Carster has some shot's of an undisguised Audi R8 on the road. Boy is this car looking good!

Audi certainly made the right move when they bought Lambo, their own supercars (if the R8's looks are anything to go by) have come on in leaps since.

Let hope it drives as well as it looks!
