Audi R8

r8.jpgThere has been a few scraggy images of the R8 on the net, but the one that German Car Blog has got hold off is the best one I have so far seen.

The R8 is starting to interest me more and more, it should have the gorgeous V8 4.2ltr lump from the RS4, perhaps in a tweaked state.

Appologies

Appologies for the outage over the past 12 hours or so, the demand for the Lunchtime diversion posting caused PHP to spike the processor on my hosts server.

I have 'lightened' up some of the server side scripting on the site, and with some luck it should not happen again. It seems in the 6 hours the server was up yesterday I had 2000, indiviual client's access the server, way up on 'normal', anyhow, welcome to anyone new that has bookmarked, or RSS'd me

Normal service will now be resumed (with a little luck).

Clerks II Trailer

Great trailer, can't wait for the UK release!

Peter Cullen

optimus1.jpgPeter Cullen was announced yesterday at Comic-Con as the voice for Optimus Prime.

Peter Cullen was of course the original voice for the Autobot leader, and he return fo rthe feature is good news. Now all we need is the voice of Megatron to be finalised (Frank Welker is still rumoured).

Oh and if you have not seen it, head over to the official site and have a look at the teaser trailer.

More fast cars

272mphveyron9ab.jpgJust when you thought it was safe to come out of the closet, and ping the tail on the fastest supercar, Bugatti come along and ruin your thinking.

What do I hear you say? the 987Bhp (1001PS) 250MPH Bugatti Veyron is just too slow! well then please say hello to the Veyron GT! The 'standard' car can do 0-100-0Mph in 9.9sec (faster than a GSXR1000) so what will this monster do?

The GT has 1232Bhp (1250PS) and taps out at 272Mph (438 KPH). A Targa version of the car has also been announced, the T Tops will however need to be left at home as there is no space on-board for them. Bugatti will have a clever slide out fabric however that will keep the car dry if you are caught out. The system is being developed by Webasto who are the company behind the VW Eos folding roof.

MotoGP USA Style

Just a quick mention to the motorsport nut's that read this, if you are in the UK/Europe then Eurosport (410 on Sky) is showing practice, qualifying and race at 22:00 GMT.

Why not use the Sky by mobile to setup the recordings on your Sky+

Barabus performance unveiled

tkr_main_header.jpgBarabus have released the figures for the car I wrote about yesterday we now know is called the TKR.  To be honest if they are accurate, they are staggering!

0-60 : 1.67 seconds, now that's traction! How do they get that level of explosive performance to the road?

Top Speed :  270Mph, now this is the REALLY impressive figure, the aero on the car must be even more impressive than the traction.

Price : £360,000, impressive when you think a Veyron is £600,000!

Numbers made : 100-150 per year, or they say 300-400 over 3 years.

Luxury : They state "The TKR is designed to compete with the world's fastest, quickest, best handling, most luxurious grand touring cars in the world, whilst providing a distinctly European driving experience for the fortunate few who will own one."

I can't wait to see the first public review of the car, if it's half as good as they say it will be a bargain!

Democracy Player has reached 0.85, the latest version has native support for Intel-Mac's and is apparently very quick on the platform.

Barabus ‘Veyron Killer’

Small English company Barabus is set to unveil the fruit of 10 years labour at the British Motor Show. The car has 1005Bhp, using a twin turbo 6.0L V8.

Looks promising, and they have warned that it could just pip the Veyron to the top of the speed stakes.

MS-SysInternals

Just wanted to say well done to both Microsoft and the boys behind SysInternals. Microsoft have announced that they have purchased the company, and more importantly have brought the brains behind the incredible tools into Microsoft.

Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell will work for the big MS now, and with some luck the tools will become at least part of the hacking (rescource) kit for Windows.

Thanks to Full of I.T for the heads up. Oh yeah, whileon the Microsoft subject, Virtual PC2004 is now free, as will the next version (2007) be. Go download it now.
