Another World is back

And now in Hi-Res. It is one of my favorite games from the past, and now Eric Chahi has redone it with todays graphics. The old vector based characters are still there, but with nice hi res backdrops and clever(ish) lighting.

Pop along to the website and download yourself a copy, the first level is free then there is a small fee for the rest of the game. Well worth it in my opinion.

Dr Who Season 2

The premier episode of the 'modern' Dr Who season 2 was shown on Saturday called 'New Earth'. It looks like their may be a theme running through this season.

Saturday was a homage to Zombies, with next weeks being a werewolf episode, and as Dan also picked up looks to be in the same or similar vein as 'Brotherhood of the wolf'. So with a little luck this season may be based around the 'original' horror villains (zombie's, werewolf, devils, vampires etc).

David Tennant is very good as the Doctor, but I can't help remembering Barty Crouch Junior from Harry Potter every time I seen him. That's not however a bad thing as he plays a psycho in that as well. Billy is even becoming a decent companion. Bring on the next episode.

McLaren designers return

The designers of the fabled McLaren F1 are back with the Caparo T1. Caparo reckon the car will perfom similar to a Le Mans Prototype car (3 second's to 60 and 3g cornering potential).

Ben Scott-Geddes and Graham Halstead, will join Caparo CEO Angad Paul for the unveiling of the car at the Top Marques auto show in Monaco.

No ideas of price, but it's not going to be cheap!

There are plenty of other site's doing the show the justice it deserves, so I shall just show some of the pic's I like.

Chuck Norris Lives in Oblivion

Genius, pure genius!

StormBreaker

This English production has jut shown up on my radar. Yes I may be a bit behind, but I thought this was going to be a kiddie flick.

Turns out I was wrong!

This is just a new twist on the whole 'Bond' thing, based on the StormBreaker books by Anthony Horowitz. Plus it's got some of my all time favorite actors in it. People like Ewan McGregor, Mickey Rourke, Bill Nighy, Sophie Okonedo, Alicia Silverstone, Damian Lewis, Stephen Fry, Andy Serkis and Robbie Coltrane don't just turn up all in one movie for no good reason now.

I realy do hope this is a cracker (partly as it's us Brit's doing what we do best, 'Bond' but in a new way), but more because we can then hope that this will quench the US thirst for these sorts of flicks and they will not make any more 'XXX' movies ;)

Audi TT PDF

I wrote about the new TT yesterday, and today I bring you the technical details for the 3.2V6.

If your interested in the internals of the engine and car then download the PDF.

Audi TT’2′

BumThe new Audi TT has not disappointed. The launch pictures (topgear site) of it look fabulous.

The new car will launch in 2 variants initially. The baby one will be a FWD 2ltr TFSI (200bhp Golf GTi mk5 lump), the sixty run should be around the 6.6 second mark.

The Daddy is however the 3.2ltr V6 (250bhp) Quatro (4WD) with the DSG option. Sixty in this one will be in the 5.7sec area, with the manual coming in slightly slower at 5.9sec.

SquintThe styling and engines are not the only things that have changed. The new car is on a bespoke platform and not the Golf one this time, is longer and wider than the outgoing model. The clever thing is though, because it's all made for the TT this time, the car has made use of lot's of aluminium making the car around 50kg lighter than the lower spec'd original car.

Pricing in the UK is set to start at £24625 for the 2ltr model, and the V6 will be around £29285+£1400 for DSG.

Let's just hope this new car is a little more driver focused. The old car was never a 'bad' drive but it was quite uninvolving.

Mike gone at Toyota?

GascoyneIt seems that Mike Gascoyne and Toyota are not happy with each other, Gascoyne has been suspended due to "fundamental difference of opinion with regard to the technical operations". What that probably means is that Toyota is not happy with the strict an open way that Gascoyne runs his team.

Toyota where rumored to be paying Gascoyne the highest wage in the F1 game for his particular services, due to the fact he transformed the Renault team in his time there.

It is said that Toyota will probably assign Pascal Vasselon the job. Toyota picked him up from Michelin at the end of last year.

Not bing privy to the conversations that have gone on between Toyota and Gascoyne I cannot comment on why the break-up has actually happened; however I think if Toyota are basing this decision on performance that they should perhaps give him a little longer as he took a while at Renault to get things as he needed them; and after all the new Bridgestones are no real match for Michelin so far this year, all Bridgestone teams have struggled. However if it is the tyres that are causing the issue, there will be nobody better placed to forward the development of a fix than Vasselon.
