Funny US GTI Ads

VW are releasing the much loved (in Europe) Golf GTI MK5. PaulTan has got some of the adverts they are showing in the states at the moment, check them out here.

Funny site of the day

Now I’m not saying I agree or disagree with this site, but it’s amusing none the less. www.craignotbond.com is a funny incite into what the new Bond star has done, and might possibly (not?) bring to the secret agents on screen persona.

Why not have a wander over and check the site out for yourself, they have a strangely persuasive argument ;)

MPH is a God ;)

Looks like he has done it again, MPH has launched a test version of a launcher for 1.5 PSP’s that can run games that require version 2.0 or later firmware (i.e. GTA).

This from his website

"Here the 2.00 game loader for 1.50, see the readme.txt for informations.

This is a demonstration version, the play will stop after 10 minutes, if I did it, it’s to do a little pub for my site, for boost adsense and the donations ;-)

I don’t like to do that but it’s the only means which I found to allow i hope to buy a psp 2.50 to be able to try other programs ;-)

The full version of the loader will be available within one week, it does not matter the results obtained but i hope to be able when same to count on your generosity.

Thank you"

Pop along to the site and get the information on how to get it all working

Gizmodo Prat crashes car

It’s been reported all over the place (like here, well said to the Joystiq guys when they said "Stefan Eriksson, with his mobster past and reckless attitude to his own life and others, is the sort of person the video games industry (or any industry for that matter) doesn’t need.")

However like Joystiq said these pics are the best ones of it, I especially like the one below.

Just shows how fast the car was going, look at the debris trail! Reports have it he was racing a Merc SLR, the Enzo is a Quick car no doubt, but the skill level required to drive it at the same speed as the SLR is capable would be beyond most none Superlicened drivers.  Plus if you want drive at that sort of speed, and you can afford an Enzo or SLR then HIRE A TRACK YOU MUPPETS!!!

Another nice Google toy

Google have launched a new toy, Google Reader allows you to read through your favorite news / topics in a concise AJAX friendly way ;)

Go have a look at the link above or pop along to the Tour.

How does Nitrous Oxide work?

Paul of PaulTan.org has knocked together a decent run down of the various ‘NOS’ systems and their workings.

If you are curious about how the gas made famous by The Fast and The Furious works; I recommend a read of his article on the subject.

Team Super Aguri

The new team on the block has shown itself at Barcelona this week. On Tuesday the team was plagued with reliability issues with their hydraulic systems.

The car shown (left) is actually not the car that will be raced as it is not up to the 2006 spec.

Why is not up to spec? well the car is actually based on the 2002 Orange Arrows car and the body work is still almost identical to that car.

This however is ok as the car they have been testing is a ‘System Test’ car and is the final car underneath (including the new Honda V8), but the body work is still being worked on and should be shown next week at Silverstone.

Sky by Broadband uninstall

I’ve noticed over on AVForums that some people are unsure as to what get’s installed, and more importantly how to remove it.

Well what it installs, the main part of Sky by Broadband is not the part you see, it is actually a P2P service (Kontiki), this is the meat and bones of the SBB application, as this actually does the downloading/uploading parts (just as a side note, the BBC trial uses this P2P application as well). Ports used by this application seem to be 80, 443 and 8080.

The less significant, but more visible part is the Flash based front end of the application that allows you to choose what to download or watch.

The third and final part of the application is actually Windows Media Player 10, this is what is used to actually play the video back again (all downloaded video’s use Microsoft’s DRM for ‘protection’)

Now to remove the application?

First do a standard Windows uninstall of the Sky by Broadband application, this however usually does not remove the Kontiki stuff, for that their is an application supplied by Kontiki to do the job (Download here).

Obviously you could then uninstall the Windows Media Player 10 package from Windows as well, however no real point.

The last thing? Well I have been asked how to ‘Un DRM’ the files downloaded, well it can be done, no security is infallible, however it is certainly not a simple task. If you would like to research this then have a look here.

Bonds new Aston

DBSBonds new Aston has appeared online. The new DBS is a sort of super Vanquish and will be used in the next Bond flick ‘Casino Royale’ (one of my favorite books btw). MI6.co.uk have some more details about the Bond parts of the car (also confirming that ‘Q’ will not be appearing?).

I doubt very much if the car will ever make any sort of production; but it certainly is pretty.
