Miura PLEASE MAKE IT!!!`

My favorite car of all time, The Lamborghini Miura. Lambo have shown off the concept pictured below and unfortunately have said it will not be produced. There are rumours however that they may do a limited run of them for the closest Lamborghini customers (so JK will get one ;))

All I have to say is PLEASE VAG MAKE THIS CAR! With VAG’s current running with the Veyron being allowed to go into sale (at a rumoured 4 million euro loss per car) let’s hope they take another brave risk and put this beauty on sale!

Live OneCare

OneCareOneCare Beta has just been allowed ‘live’ to people outside of the USA. I highly recommend trying it out, it includes AntiVirus, AntiSpam, Firewall as well as a few other additions. Pop along to here and try it out.

Microsoft at CES 2006

Microsoft have a good set of site’s up for their presence at CES. Bill Gates Keynote speech is always worth having a look at, I’ve watched a bit and it looks good, he gives a vision of what will come in this ‘digital decade’.

If your bored get it and have a look, some nice concepts.

MS Security Bulletin

Microsoft have patched there WMF problem that I mentioned earlier. Check here for more information.

XDA Exec

Like Dan mentioned I have got my hands on a HTC Universal in the guise of an XDA Exec. I’ll put a full review together for the device when I have decided my thoughts on the new firmware. But for now suffice to say that it is a cool device. How cool? well this was posted on it! and having a ‘full’ size QWERTY keyboard is a big bonus.

So coming soon a review of the universal and the wizard as my wife has upgraded to one of those.

MS Security problem

There has been a Microsoft security issue turn up. The patch will be out on the 10th but until then I highly recommend you take one of the following actions.

Run - regsvr32 -u %windir%\system32\shimgvw.dll to unregister the effected DLL.

Make sure your anti-virus/antispyware is up to the minute up to date (Symantec have this covered in the daily from yesterday)

Why? well all that is needed to exploit this attack is to open a web page or HTML Mail with an ‘infected’ WMF file.

What will unregistering the DLL do, it will ‘break’ the Picture and Fax viewer, so if you have a picture viewer/editor that you use instead then this is not a problem. If you do use MS Picture and Fax viewer (right click, preview on an image) then until the fix is out on Windows Update then you will be without the functionality.

At the end of the day it’s up to you, but I would recommend it as the attack allows the attacker to gain System level access to the PC.

Custom PSP Firmware

Couple of new things on the PSP front, people are playing with ‘remixing’ firmware, there is a version doing the rounds with some of the PSP 2.0 features.

I’ll attach the firmware and the MPH Launcher to try it out.

Basically install MPH Launcher (version 1.3.7u5 attached below) then unpack the firmware into the relevant folders then launch the MPH Firmware Launcher.

Have fun ;)

MPH Launcher 1.3.7u5
Custom Firmware 1.5 Plus

EDIT: I’ve been asked to make a few things clearer, so here goes (I will make an overview page with terms and definitions but until then)

MPH Launcher :  Allows a 1.5 PSP to run other firmware above the 1.5 firmware, this alows testing. There is still work to do on the app though as it struggles with certain things.

Firmware : What the device uses to run, like the Windows OS on your PC (sort of, PC’s have firmware as well, but that is the best description). The remixed firmware take parts of the 2.x firmware and integrate them into the 1.5 core part of the firmware.

Hope that helps ;)
